Givan confirms Pay and Grading Review payments will be paid to staff in November
Date published:
Education Minister Paul Givan has welcomed confirmation from the Education Authority that the payments in connection with the Pay and Grading Agreement will be made to school support staff this month.
Welcoming the implementation of the review, the Minister said:
“I am pleased to confirm that the Education Authority will be implementing Stage 1 of the Pay and Grading Review agreement as part of the normal pay arrangements for November. This will mean that eligible staff will move to their new pay rates and will receive any backpay due this month.”
The support staff unions accepted the settlement terms in September, following consultation with their members over the summer months, and the Education Authority has been working since then to implement the agreement.
The Minister continued:
“Our school support staff deserve to be paid appropriately for the extremely important work they do, and I am pleased that these payments can be made before Christmas. This significant investment in pay will help address the issue of low pay in the sector and will improve the recruitment and retention of staff in the future.”
