Digital transformation in schools
The Department of Education directly funds the Education Authority (EA) to provide a range of managed ICT services to schools.
Digital transformation in schools
C2k, which is part of the EA Education Directorate, provides a core ICT service to all grant-aided schools across all EA regions, that includes hardware, software, connectivity and technical support. C2k’s Education Network service has been transformed from September 2014 to deliver a new set of services to all grant-aided schools. These services include:
- providing access for pupils and teachers to the dedicated Education Cloud
- a personalised pupil learning and working environment (My School)
- a secure online learning platform (Fronter)
- a regional content management system (Equella), which works in tandem with Fronter
- superfast connectivity to the education cloud, with significantly increased bandwidth
- WiFi
- video conferencing (Collaborate), inbuilt eSafety for pupils and teachers
- data and administration systems (Schools Information Management System – SIMS) for schools.
