O’Dowd approves proposal to increase capacity at Scoil na Fuiseoige, Twinbrook

Education Minister John O’Dowd has approved a development proposal to increase the enrolment at Scoil na Fuiseoige, Twinbrook from 31 August 2016.

Commenting on the decision, Mr O’Dowd said:

“My approval of this proposal is in line with my statutory duty to encourage and facilitate the development of Irish-medium education.

 The Sustainable Schools Policy states that ideally a school should have at least seven classrooms and this increase will allow the school to grow to this level.

 I would like to wish the school well as it continues to develop and provide a quality education for its pupils.”

Notes to editors: 

1. On 9 January 2015 the South Eastern Education and Library Board (SEELB), at the request of Scoil na Fuiseoige, published Development Proposal No. 267 which proposes to increase the school’s approved enrolment number from 145 to 182.  This will result in the school’s admission number increasing from 21 to 26 with effect from 31 August 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The statutory two-month objection period ended on 9 March 2015.
2. Scoil na Fuiseoige is an “other maintained” co-educational, Irish-medium primary school situated in Twinbrook, Dunmurry.
