Both schools have a diverse range of nationalities and many pupils are bi-lingual.
Minister O'Dowd was treated to special performances from the children at both schools, clearly demonstrating the involvement of all the pupils and their competency in a range of languages.
The Minister paid tribute to the schools and local community saying:
“It is clear these schools and these local communities embrace the rich tapestry and diverse world we live in. Everyone learns from mixed cultures and languages and I congratulate St Patrick's and Dungannon Primary Schools on everything they do to support these pupils and their families.”
