Weir visits post-primary schools in Lurgan area

Education Minister, Peter Weir, has met with pupils and staff during visits to Craigavon Senior High School and Lurgan College.

Speaking following the visits the Minister said:

“I welcome the opportunity to visit Craigavon Senior High School and Lurgan College today. I have been given a tour of each school and met with pupils and staff during the course of their lessons.

“The best part of my job as Education Minister is visiting schools and having the opportunity to meet with those connected to that school. Each visit is unique and I especially enjoy hearing the many varied and interesting stories along the way.”

In conclusion, the Minister thanked the Principals and everyone connected with the schools for the invitation and wished them well for the future.

Notes to editors: 

  1. Craigavon Senior High School was established in 1995 and operates as part of the Dickson Plan. It caters for 14-16 year old pupils transferring from the junior high schools in Lurgan, Portadown and Tandragee.
  2. Lurgan College is a 14-18 controlled Grammar and operates as part of the Dickson Plan.
  3. The Education Authority has published draft Area Plans for the period 2017-2020 for consultation. The closing date is 12 December 2016.
