More time to apply to be a member of the Boards of Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (CnaG) and the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE)

The Department of Education has extended the time for appointments to the Boards of the Comhairle na Gaelscolaĺochta (CnaG) and the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE).

The closing date for applications is now 4pm BST on Wednesday 24 July.

Background

CnaG is a non-statutory body which was established in 2000 to provide for the benefit of the public the development of all aspects of Irish medium education.

NICIE is a Non-Departmental Public Body which was established in 1987 to assist the development of integrated schools in Northern Ireland for public benefit.

The members role includes contributing to the development of the Board’s strategy, challenging and working for consensus in the decision-making processes of the Board, and contributing to the work associated with the Board’s functions.

While the posts are not remunerated, members may claim travel and other expenses necessarily incurred on business travel while carrying out their Board duties. The time commitment for the CnaG Board is approximately 7-10 days per annum and for the NICIE Board 12 days per annum. 

No specific academic qualifications are required for the posts.  Your experience does not necessarily need to be associated directly with the education service but may be from other backgrounds including business or commercial life and/or voluntary service and involvement in the community.
