Research reports 2010 - School Governors: The guardians of our schools

PriceWaterhouseCoopers were commissioned in March 2010 to carry out a School Governors Research Project in the 2009/10 school year.  The researchers collected information through interviews with a number of stakeholders and a survey of governors. Key aims of the research were to assess if governors have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to discharge successfully their responsibilities, including those relating to equality; assess how representative school governors are of the community and to survey governors on the training and support available to them to discharge their responsibilities
